Produced in collaboration with Denver's Coda Coffee Company, whose artisanal coffee is incorporated into the beer's recipe, Snowcat pours a deep, dark, virtually black brew with a rich brown head which drops to a persistent ring. Look for roasty aromas of dark chocolate, brown bread, deep caramel, and coffee, with a touch of earth and spice. Unsurprisingly, this is a bold brew on the palate, with robust roasted and ashy notes and mild to

Shmaltz is no novice when it comes to crafting delicious IPAs. In fact, Hop Orgy is a seasonal brew available on draft and in Shmaltz's "Hop Orgy" variety pack, also featuring their Hop Manna, Hop Momma, and Hop Mania IPAs. And we certainly can't forget Mazel Hops – a one-off brew our friends at Shmaltz were kind enough to brew exclusively for our members when we celebrated our 20th anniversary in 2014. Hop Orgy certainly is a worthy addition...
- Style: Black Ale

- Hops: Magnum, Hallertau
- Malts: Torrified Wheat, Black Malt
- Country: United States
Crazy Mountain describes this beer as a unique "mutt" featuring German hops, Belgian malt, and American yeast, with the end result being a "Black German Pale Ale." Sounds nuts, huh? Well it is Crazy Mountain after all. Pouring a very dark brown with a nice cap of dense foam, Cara de Luna offers up a nose of deep caramel and chocolate, with a bit of a fig-like fruity character, a touch of rum, and a wisp of licorice. In the flavor department...
- Style: Kölsch
- ABV: 4.7%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 20
- Serving Temperature: 40-45° F
- Suggested Glassware: Stange, Pilsner Glass
- Hops: Magnum, Crystal
- Malts: 2-Row, Raw Wheat
- Country: United States
Easy Blonde is inspired by kölsch, a German beer style hailing from Köln (Colonge) that, despite classification as an ale, is cold-conditioned like a lager for an overall cleanness and a crisp finish. Like many blonde/golden ales, the recipe and brewing procedure is a challenge to perfect as any flaws are readily apparent, unable to hide behind a ton of bold, complex flavors. On the pour, Easy Blonde offers a golden straw color capped with a...
- Style: American IPA
- ABV: 6.7%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 87
- Serving Temperature: 45-50° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pint Glass or Mug
- Hops: El Dorado, Amarillo, Centennial, Galaxy
- Malts: Torrified Wheat, Caramel Malt
- Country: United States
Pouring a light amber, golden hue with plenty of sticky off-white foam, Hookiebobb IPA offers up an inviting aroma that's boldly floral, with plenty of additional soft fruity citrus and tropical notes. As much as we liked the aroma, we liked the flavor even more. The hop aromas translate directly to the palate as well, where they are, of course, the stars of this hoppy show. But, we really enjoyed the nicely robust backbone of moderate caramel...
- Style: Rye Double IPA
- ABV: 10.0%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 86
- Serving Temperature: 48-55° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip or Snifter
- Hops: Warrior, Cascade, Simcoe, Crystal, Chinook, Amarillo, Centennial
- Malts: 2-Row, Rye Ale, Torrified Rye, Crystal Rye 75, Crystal Malt 80, Wheat, Kiln Amber
- Country: United States
This World Beer Championships Gold Medal winner was created to honor Jewish comedian Lenny Bruce, and what a memorable tribute it is. Presenting a deep amber-red color topped with plenty of creamy foam, it's really quite striking in the glass. Look for a complex aroma on this bad boy, including ripe and candied fruits such as citrus, berry, and stone fruit, plus spicy notes of rye and baking spices, sticky pine, and a powerful undercurrent of...
- Style: Belgian Pale Ale
- ABV: 5.2%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 18
- Serving Temperature: 43-48° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Snifter, Goblet
- Country: Belgium
A century ago, during a time in which pilsner-style lagers were sweeping Europe and the world, the Belgian Brewers Guild challenged its members to create a traditionally-made but lower-gravity Belgian ale to compete. Palm’s answer to the guild and the trend towards easy-drinking beers was their Speciale Belge, a sessionable ale with a very pilsner-like 5.2% ABV and 18 IBUs. Golden-amber on the pour with perfect clarity, it offers up prominent...
- Style: Flemish Red Ale
- ABV: 6.0%
- Serving Temperature: 45-55° F
- Suggested Glassware: Flute, Tulip, or Snifter
- Country: Belgium
Rodenbach Grand Cru is a blend of approximately 1/3 young beer and 2/3 beer which has undergone full maturation for 2 years in 150-year-old oak foeders, so be sure to use a glass with this beer and give it a while to warm up from fridge temp. For comparison, Rodenbach's standard red ale is 3/4 young beer and 1/4 aged, so Grand Cru is an even more complex beer, and a real treat for sour ale lovers...
- Style: Hoppy Farmhouse Ale w/ Rye, Oats, Wheat & Brettanomyces
- ABV: 6.5%
- Serving Temperature: 48–55° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Goblet, Chalice or Pinot Glass
- Country: Canada
This month, we’re thrilled to be able to offer our Rare Beer Club members a taste from the folks at Brasserie Dunham in Québec: Saison du Pinacle, their delicious bottle-conditioned farmhouse ale, which is packed with additions of oats, rye and wheat, and potently hopped with hop varieties from the U.S. (Citra and Simcoe) and Australia (Topaz). This beer saw a very light distribution in the U.S. last year, sprinkling about 70 cases over 4–5 states.
- Style: Honey Ale w/ Blueberries
- ABV: 15%
- Serving Temperature: 52–59° F
- Suggested Glassware: Snifter, Tulip or Pinot Glass
- Country: United States
We don’t cross paths with an enormous number of braggots, but this one from Flying Fish makes us wish we did. This limited release—Exit 3: Blueberry Braggot—will see only about 60 cases sold outside of the Rare Beer Club allotment. This one threw us for a loop at first, but after we allowed it to warm, and really showcase the complexity that the braggot style’s capable of—well, then we understood. Blueberries aside for the moment, there’s...
