- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: English IPA

- Serving Temperature: 45-50° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pint Glass or Mug
- Hops: Galena, Bravo
- Malts: Pale, Wheat
- Country: United States
Pouring a medium to deep amber color with a persistent head of light beige foam, Inlet IPA looks inviting as it rests in the glass and sends its aromas floating over to us. There's a definite caramelized and toasty note on the nose, letting us know this is going to be a fairly malty brew, but we also picked up plenty of citric and floral hop notes along with some stone fruit character and a wisp of pine. On the palate, expect that toasty malt...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American IPA
- ABV: 7.5%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 76
- Serving Temperature: 45-50° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pint Glass, Snifter, Tulip
- Hops: Summit, Mosaic, Chinook, Falconer's Flight
- Malts: Pilsen, Vienna, Carapils
- Country: United States
Lightly hazy and richly orange, this brew looked dynamite in our glasses capped by a voluminous head of foam from an aggressive pour, which laced the glass in a big way as it receded. River Horse describes Hippotizing IPA as a cross between the West Coast and New England styles of IPA, and they dry-hop this brew with a sizable 2 lbs. per barrel of Mosaic – a rather complex hop. On the nose, look for herbal and earthy notes accompanied by pine...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American Pale Ale
- ABV: 6.1%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 35
- Serving Temperature: 40-45° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pint Glass or Mug
- Hops: Nugget, Galena
- Malts: Pale, Crystal
- Country: United States
16 Mile's Old Court Ale presents a gorgeous red-amber hue in the glass, topped with a crop of beige foam that lingers long before finally receding to a persistent collar. On the nose we picked up a prominent dose of caramelized malt with a light bready impression overlaid by a hop profile conjuring mild citrus, spice, and even a touch of aromatic wood. In the flavor department, look for a prominent core of toasty bread and moderate caramel...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American Porter with Chocolate & Vanilla
- ABV: 6.7%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 15.9
- Serving Temperature: 50-55° F
- Suggested Glassware: Snifter, Tulip, or Pint Glass
- Hops: Chinook, Golding
- Malts: Pilsen, Munich, Aromatic, Chocolate, Caramel, Brown, Carastan
- Country: United States
This tasty porter from River Horse pours a deep, dark brown capped with a head of dense tan foam that retains very well and laces the glass nicely as it recedes. Brewed with one pound of real chocolate per barrel, along with vanilla beans from Madagascar, it's no surprise that prominent chocolate notes announce themselves upfront in the aroma. Look also for rich caramel, light roasted tones, toasted bread, and brown sugar. On the palate...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American IPA
- ABV: 5.7%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 53
- Serving Temperature: 45-50° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pint Glass or Mug
- Hops: Summit, Chinook, Simcoe, Citra, Falconer's Flight, Wakatu, Cascade, Centennial
- Malts: Pilsen, Carapils, Melanoidin, Honey
- Country: United States
Pouring a rich and hazy amber color topped with ample foam, this IPA offers a very expressive aroma that really drew us in. Brewed with eight different varieties of hops (more when we consider Falconer’s Flight, which is itself a blend of several varieties), it’s no surprise to find quite a complex array of very fruity aromas including pineapple, orange, mango, passion fruit, tangerine, grapefruit, and even a hint of berry, not to mention floral...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American IPA
- ABV: 6.8%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 46.88
- Serving Temperature: 45-50° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pint Glass or Mug
- Hops: Azacca, El Dorado, Amarillo
- Malts: Pale, Cara, Wheat, Oats
- Country: United States
This relatively new brew from 16 Mile presents a rich medium amber-copper color, and is quite hazy, as we expect for a "New England style" IPA. On the nose, expect a profile that's quite spicy and herbal with a light note of clove, along with stone fruits, citrus, and tropical fruits. The spicy hop notes jump out on the palate too, offering a bit of a witbier-like impression. We found the hop bitterness restrained for an IPA, with a touch of...
- Bottle Size: 330-ml
- Style: Wee Heavy / Scotch Ale
- ABV: 7.4%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 16
- Serving Temperature: 47-52° F
- Suggested Glassware: Thistle, Tulip, Snifter
- Hops: Challenger, Golding
- Malts: Pale, Black
- Country: Scotland
The "90/-" notation on the bottle of Belhaven's Wee Heavy is a nod to the now-obsolete shilling coinage, which was at one time the de facto method of rating the strength of Scottish beers, which were naturally more expensive the stronger they were. Beers could be rated as low as 60/- all the way up to 140/- or more, but around 90/- is generally where we get into the style known as Wee Heavy or Scotch Ale, a strong, malty, and often somewhat...
- Bottle Size: 360-ml
- Style: German Pilsner
- ABV: 5.1%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 32
- Serving Temperature: 40-45° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pilsner Glass, Flute
- Hops: Hallertau, Tettnang
- Country: Germany
Tannenzäpfle pilsner has a bit of a cult following among many beer lovers in Germany, and after sampling it it's easy for us to see why. Pouring a bright golden-straw color with crystal clarity and a cap of just-off-white foam, it looks inviting in the glass, but it's the aroma that really drew us in. It's got the classic German pilsner notes: an underlying base of pale malt overlaid with brightly earthy, grassy, and lightly spicy noble hops...
- Bottle Size: 750-ml
- Style: Oak-Foeder-Aged Mixed-Fermentation Witbier
- ABV: 5%
- Serving Temperature: 45–52° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Teku, or Chardonnay Glass
- Country: United States
We’ve been loving everything we’ve been sampling from Perennial Artisan Ales, and we’re excited to secure their highly limited Funky Wit as a Rare Beer Club exclusive release. This mixed-fermentation (using a house blend of Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus, and Pediococcus after a primary fermentation using a classic yeast strain) Belgian-style witbier is aged in oak foeders and hasn’t been released for a couple years (and in miniscule quantities...
- Bottle Size: 750-ml
- Style: Belgian Strong Ale dry-hopped with Sorachi Ace
- ABV: 7.5%
- Serving Temperature: 45–52° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Teku, Chalice, or Pinot Glass
- Country: Belgium
Brasserie de Jandrain-Jandrenouille has been making some of our favorite Belgian releases, and we’ve managed to work with the brewery to create a Rare Beer Club exclusive for our members this month. This beer is a complete reformulation of an earlier beer that we’d dug from them, including a huge dry-hopping with vibrant Sorachi Ace hops. The use of ‘III’ in the title is a nod to the Belgian tripel style—but this release goes to a space...
We’re so proud of our featured beers, that we list them going all the way back to 1995
No other Beer Club can claim the same. Check out what we’ve been up for the last 20+ years. We know you’ll be impressed enough to see what’s coming next month.
