- Serving Temperature: 50-55° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip or Snifter
- Hops: Perle, Nugget, Mt. Hood
- Malts: 2-Row, Munich, Crystal, Chocolate
- Country: United States
This robust brew presents a deep, dark, brownish-garnet color in the glass, capped by a robust beige head. The can promises a "big, complex and malty ale," and that's apparent right away in the aroma. Look for rich, deep-down caramel notes along with molasses, toasted bread and nuts, and chocolate, overlaid with a touch of herbal-earthy hops. The flavor follows suit closely, supplying lots of toasty character which melds with big notes of...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American IPA
- ABV: 7.3%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 82
- Serving Temperature: 45-50° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Snifter, Pint Glass
- Hops: Crystal, Idaho 7, Nugget, Bravo, Chinook
- Malts: 2-Row, Munich, Crystal
- Country: United States
Tommyknocker's TK IPA offers a bit more oomph than many other IPAs without quite straying into the territory of double/imperial IPA. As such, the IBUs are elevated compared to most IPAs, but are not quite as high as the 90-100+ that we often see from contemporary double IPAs. TK IPA pours a golden-copper color with a sizeable head of foam which coasts the glass with sticky lace as it slowly recedes to a permanent ring. It’s quite a fragrant
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: Hoppy American Lager
- ABV: 5.0%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 50
- Serving Temperature: 40-45° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pint Glass or Mug
- Hops: Columbus, Centennial, Citra, Simcoe
- Malts: Pilsner, CaraFoam, Torrified Wheat
- Country: United States
We had to chuckle at DuClaw's frustration over trying to come up with something clever to name this brew, and ultimately just throwing in the towel. We think it's quite memorable, actually. Pouring a bright golden color with good clarity and a robust head of white foam, this brew looks like a pale ale, and it certainly smells like one too, but DuClaw crafted this one as a lager, though they dry-hopped it with American hops to give it a...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: Gose
- ABV: 5.5%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 14
- Serving Temperature: 40-45° F
- Suggested Glassware: Flute, Stange, or Pilsner Glass
- Hops: Hallertau Blanc
- Malts: Pilsner, Wheat, Acidulated
- Country: United States
Gose (pronounced "go-suh") is a traditional German style of tart wheat beer that has become very popular in recent years among craft beer drinkers in the U.S., especially during the warmer months of the year. Though widely popular at one time in Leipzig and its original home of Goslar, the style was almost lost to history until its comeback began in the 1980s. Like the related style of Berliner Weisse, many versions of Gose, including...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: Citrus IPA
- ABV: 6.0%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 55
- Serving Temperature: 45-50° F
- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass or Pint Glass
- Hops: Mandarina, Mosaic, Citra
- Malts: 2-Row, Honey Malt, Munich, Crystal
- Country: United States
IPAs brewed with all manner of fruits have become popular in recent years, especially those with citrus. Of those, blood orange is among the most popular, behind, perhaps, grapefruit. The delicious juiciness it contributes is compelling, and Tommyknocker's version is a prime example. Pouring an orangish-golden-copper color and capped by a sticky, persistent foam that laces well, this IPA offers up quite the bold aroma...
- Bottle Size: 500-ml
- Style: Polish Pilsner
- ABV: 5.6%
- Serving Temperature: 40-45° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pilsner Glass
- Country: Poland
Okocim O.K. Beer is more than just "O.K. Beer". It derives its quality from a recipe which incorporates the best of the indigenous Polish hop varieties, malted barley and pure spring water from the Tatra mountain range. The beer itself reflects the purity of these ingredients in its taste and is one of a handful of Polish brews that defined the "Polish Pils" style, which in turn separated Polish beers from the many other European...
- Bottle Size: 500-ml
- Style: Weissbier/Hefeweizen
- ABV: 5.4%
- Serving Temperature: 45-50° F
- Suggested Glassware: Weizen Glass
- Country: Germany
Pouring a hazy, golden-amber hue, slightly deeper than some others of the style, this unfiltered wheat beer develops a voluminous head of foam, as we expect. Use a weizen glass or, if you don't have one, try another vertically-oriented glass like a pilsner glass or a stange so the head has room to rise. On the nose, look for yeast- and hop-driven notes, with spicy clove-like herbal tones and moderate noble hop aromas, along with...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: New England IPA
- ABV: 5.6%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 45
- Serving Temperature: 45-50° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pint Glass or Mug
- Hops: Citra, Columbus, El Dorado
- Malts: 2-Row, White Wheat, Oat Malt, Vienna
- Country: United States
As we expect from the name, this golden-hued, unfiltered New England-style IPA delivers a ton of haze on the pour, per the style. In the aroma, look for citrus and fragrant notes of citrus blossoms, along with a bit of tropical fruit character and some stone fruit. We also picked up a touch of wheaty tang in the underlying malts. Look for lots of stone fruit and floral character to come through on the palate, backed by citrus pith and a hint...
- Bottle Size: 750-ml
- Style: Belgian-Style Ale w/ American Hops & Brettanomyces
- ABV: 6.2%
- Serving Temperature: 45–52° F
- Suggested Glassware: Chalice, Tulip, or Chardonnay Glass
- Country: Italy
For folks who have heard of Toccalmatto before, it may very well have been courtesy of this collaboration they did with Prairie Artisan Ales, which saw some very slight distribution last time around. This Belgian-style beer, Okie Matilde, is a riff on Prairie’s Oklahoma home and the legend of Countess Matilda from Tuscany—a foundational story for the famous Orval. It is a delicious tribute to that classic Brettanomyces-tinged Belgian ale...
- Bottle Size: 750-ml
- Style: Dry-Hopped Berliner Weisse (Berlin-Style Wheat Ale)
- ABV: 5.8%
- Serving Temperature: 43–50° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Lambic Tumbler, or Champagne Glass
- Country: United States
We’ve been impressed by every release we’ve gotten to sample thus far from August Schell’s Noble Star Collection, but this dry-hopped Basin of Attraction is the highlight. This one-time, limited-production brew has previously seen only light distribution in MN and ND, and we’re excited to have been able to work with Schell’s to be able to secure enough of it for our members. This beer is a blend of two traditional, mixed-culture Berliner Weisse...
