- Serving Temperature: 45-52º F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Snifter, or Goblet
- Hops: Tettnanger
- Malts: Pilsen, Oats
- Country: United States
Pouring a hazy, rich golden color and topped by a robust head of foam that laces nicely as it recedes, this brew is certainly inviting in appearance and looks just like what we’d expect from a traditional Belgian-style Triple (or Tripel). Made with an authentic Belgian Trappist yeast strain, it's no surprise we picked up plenty of traditional Belgian yeast character. Look for fruity overtones reminiscent of stone fruits and maybe a little white grape...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy
- ABV: 8.0%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 21
- Serving Temperature: 48-55º F
- Suggested Glassware: Snifter or Tulip
- Hops: Mt. Hood
- Malts: Pale, Pilsen, Caramel, Vienna, Aromatic, Peated, Roasted Barley
- Country: United States
Pouring a hazy, deep amber-red color capped by a head of light tan foam, Sprecher's Scotch Ale looks good while presenting an inviting set of aromatics. It's also taken home several medals from various competitions, including Gold at the 2012 and 2014 Los Angeles International Beer Competition and Gold at the 2014 US Open Beer Championship. Look for aromas of caramel, dried fruit, and light touches of smoke from the peated malt...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: Brown Ale with Nicaraguan Coffee
- ABV: 6.3%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 8
- Serving Temperature: 45-52º F
- Suggested Glassware: Pint Glass or Mug
- Hops: Magnum, Zythos
- Malts: 2-Row, Cara 45, Oat Flake
- Country: United States
This new seasonal release from Ellicottville is a rather darker take on their Coldspresso blonde ale, offering a nice dose of caramel malt in support of Nicaraguan coffee beans. Pouring a dark and ruddy amber color topped with a beige head, we picked up that big, fresh, roasty coffee character right away in the aroma, underpinned by a sturdy foundation of caramelized malts. The coffee is certainly the star in the flavor, too, with medium roast...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: IPA (New England-style)
- ABV: 6.3%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 103
- Serving Temperature: 45-50º F
- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass, Pint Glass, Mug
- Hops: Simcoe, Mosaic
- Malts: 2-Row, Cara 45, White Wheat, Rye
- Country: United States
This unfiltered hazy IPA certainly presents as we would expect, with a super dense-looking deep orange hue capped by a giant head of off-white foam that retains well before lacing our glasses and dropping to a persistent ring. On the nose, we picked up big and juicy tropical fruits upfront, along with touches of citrus, stone fruits, melon, wisps of berry, some floral overtones, a dash of pine... it’s as multifaceted as we’d expect from a Mosaic and Simcoe...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: Session IPA
- ABV: 5.0%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 20
- Serving Temperature: 45-50º F
- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass, Pint Glass, Mug
- Hops: Zythos, Centennial, Mosaic
- Malts: Pale, Dextrine, Wheat, Oats
- Country: United States
Refresh Button offers up a moderately hazy golden orange appearance capped by an ample head of fluffy off-white foam that lingers long and laces well. On the nose, we really were drawn in by the nice dose of citrus in concert with tropical fruit notes upon a softly floral backdrop. The citrus notes offer a bit of everything, a little lemon, lime, orange, tangerine, grapefruit... every sniff is a little something new. Look also for hints of peach, pear, juicy pineapple...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American IPA
- ABV: 6.0%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 120
- Serving Temperature: 45-50º F
- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass, Tulip, Pint Glass
- Hops: Azacca, Mosaic, Cascade
- Malts: 2-Row, Cara 45, White Wheat, Oat Flakes
- Country: United States
This expressive IPA presents a pretty golden orange color in the glass, capped by plenty of fluffy beige foam. On the nose, look for huge fruity hop aromas to jump out immediately, reminiscent of candied orange peel and tropical pineapple and mango character. The trio of American hops deliver a big punch of spicy, drying bitterness on the palate, backed up by plenty of citric notes tending toward grapefruit. We picked up a good deal of tropical fruit...
- Bottle Size: 330-ml
- Style: Belgian Strong Golden Ale
- ABV: 8.0%
- Serving Temperature: 42-48° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Flute
- Country: Belgium
Lucifer presents a bright, lightly hazy golden yellow hue, capped by a robust head of foam from its in-bottle refermentation. The aromas on this classic Belgian strong golden ale are just what we expect from the style, which is very much driven by the spicy traditional yeast strains used in this land. Look for clove, mild banana, citrus, and white pepper, all underpinned by crisp, lightly honeyed, bready pale malts. The story continues on the palate, with...
- Bottle Size: 500-ml
- Style: European Pale Lager
- ABV: 5.4%
- Serving Temperature: 40-45° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pilsner Glass, Flute
- Country: Poland
Unpasteurized beers are common in the craft beer scene in the US, where many brews are bottle conditioned with carbonation forming naturally as fermentation continues in the bottle. Unpasteurized European lagers are less common, but we’re digging this one from Poland. Though unpasteurized, this brew is filtered, so there’s no haze or yeast in suspension as it rests in our glasses, presenting a bright golden color topped by a large head...

We’re thrilled to be able to offer up Grandma’s Coffee Cake Imperial Porter from Maui Brewing as an exclusive to our Rare Beer Club members, available only through the club and the brewery’s tasting rooms in Hawaii. They’ve put together an amazing beer for us. Brewed with Maui-roasted Origin Coffee, this is one of the most satisfying coffee beers we’ve had in a long while. And it also incorporates another famous local institution on Maui: Grandma’s Coffee House...
- Bottle Size: 750-ml
- Style: Strong Dark Belgian Ale
- ABV: 12.0%
- Serving Temperature: 52–58° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Goblet, or Chalice
- Country: Belgium
Scaldis Noël pours a deep, honey-golden amber in the glass, capped by firm tan foam. This offers up generous aromatics from the first pour, leading with nutty caramel, cola, and sweet banana. Touches of phenolic, pepper- and clove-like spices throughout—but all the spicing seems to be coming from Belgian yeast expression, rather than any sort of special additions. A deftly executed aroma, with the periphery offering hints of pineapple and dried dark fruit...
