- Country: United States
This summer seasonal pours a golden-straw hue, lightly hazy, with a robust cap of crisp white foam that laces well as we drain our glasses. The nose on this APA captured us immediately: luscious, juicy stone fruit, candied citrus, tropical notes conjuring mango, pineapple, and passion fruit, hints of Rainier cherry, and a supporting dash of exotic spice. The story continues in the flavor department, too, with the hops providing their complex...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American Cream Ale
- ABV: 4.9%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 25
- Serving Temperature: 40-45º F
- Suggested Glassware: Flute, Pint Glass
- Hops: Mandarina Bavaria
- Malts: 2-Row, Oats, Acidulated
- Country: United States
One of Roadhouse's year-round offerings, this cream ale presents a characteristic pale golden-straw color, capped by crisp white foam. On the nose, look for a slightly herbal and somewhat earthy citrus hop aroma, overlaid with a clean malt profile boasting light crackery notes and a bit of a tart impression. That pale malt character comes through on the palate with an initial hint of sweetness upfront before drying out completely beneath...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American IPA
- ABV: 7.5%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 55
- Serving Temperature: 45-50º F
- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass, Pint Glass, or Mug
- Hops: Citra, Simcoe, Amarillo
- Malts: 2-Row, Carafoam
- Country: United States
Originally called Rhombus, this IPA was first brewed at Roadhouse's original brewery in Wilson, WY, hence the new name. Wilson is also a Phish song, hence the lizard on the label, and if that doesn’t make any sense then you’ll just have to check out the song. In any case, we like him! Pouring a bright golden hue with a sturdy, persistent cap of vibrant foam, Wilson unleashes an alluring and inviting aroma. Look for beautifully juicy citrus...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: Dry-hopped American Pilsner
- ABV: 4.6%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 38
- Serving Temperature: 42-47º F
- Suggested Glassware: Pilsner Glass
- Hops: Chinook, Summit, Citra
- Malts: Pilsner, Wheat
- Country: United States
Pouring a golden straw color with a light haze and a cap of crisp white foam, Fresh Cut represents Peak Organic’s foray into the American trend of taking lager styles and amping up the bitterness a bit while using American hops for a distinctly different character. There’s also another trend currently towards more “sessionable”, lower-ABV IPAs, and Fresh Cut shares some similarities with such beers, albeit as a lager and with...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American IPA
- ABV: 7.1%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 60
- Serving Temperature: 45-50º F
- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass, Pint Glass, or Mug
- Hops: Amarillo, Simcoe, Nugget
- Malts: Pale, Crystal 60
- Country: United States
Pouring a bright golden hue with some haze and a cap of just-off-white foam, Peak Organic IPA looks good in the glass while also presenting quite an inviting aroma profile; look for piney, floral, and citric notes reminiscent of grapefruit and orange, with stone fruit and tropical overtones and a touch of mild caramel underneath it all. Dry-hopped with both Simcoe and Amarillo, this IPA is not shy on the palate either. A good backbone of pale...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: Hoppy American Wheat Ale
- ABV: 5.0%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 61
- Serving Temperature: 45-50º F
- Suggested Glassware: Pint Glass or Mug
- Hops: Amarillo
- Malts: Pale, Carapils, Wheat
- Country: United States
Peak describes their Summer Session Ale as a marriage between a summer wheat ale and a West Coast pale ale, and we think it’s a pretty appropriate way of looking at things. Bright golden and lightly hazy on the pour, this brew offers up prominent fruity, citric hop aromas overtop a fairly robust core of pale malt, mild caramel, and warm biscuits. On the palate, expect the hoppy citrus notes to evoke lemon and, to a lesser degree, orange...
- Bottle Size: 330-ml
- Style: German Pilsner
- ABV: 4.2%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 27
- Serving Temperature: 40-45° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pilsner Glass
- Hops: Magnum, Saaz, Hallertau
- Malts: Pilsner
- Country: Mexico
Colima's original and flagship brew, Colimita, is also their most awarded at this point, having taken Gold at the Cerveza Mexico competition for the last four years, as well as Gold at the 2019 Copa Cervezas de America. This pilsner presents a radiant pale golden hue topped by a sprightly cap of white foam. On the nose, look for a classic central European lager aroma with prominent noble hops conjuring floral and spice notes, grass and hay-like...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: India Pale Lager
- ABV: 5.8%
- Serving Temperature: 45-50° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Pint Glass, IPA Glass
- Hops: Centennial, Chinook, German Cascade, Bitburger Siegelhopfen
- Country: Germany
Stylistically, we think the best category for this one is India Pale Lager, as it has far more hop and even malt character than a typical American-style lager. The biggest focus here are the American hop varieties, Centennial, Chinook, and Cascade – the latter grown in Germany's Eifel region, but Bitburger's signature Siegelhopfen blend plays a notable role, too. On the pour, this lager presents a golden-copper hue, capped by a fluffy head of...
- Bottle Size: 750-ml
- Style: Imperial Milkshake IPA w/ Mango
- ABV: 8.9%
- Serving Temperature: 45–52° F
- Suggested Glassware: Nonic, Tulip, or IPA Glass
- Country: United States
We’re pleased to be able to offer Brau Brother’s imperial milkshake IPA with mango, Silver Linings, as a Rare Beer Club exclusive this month. This tasty, mango-packed DIPA will be available exclusively through the club and the brewery’s tasting room. This double IPA lands right around 9% ABV, and uses two types of oats for enhanced body and mouthfeel, along with vanilla bean, lactose sugars, mango, and the new Samba hops, specifically developed as a heavily tropical hop.
- Bottle Size: 750-ml
- Style: Golden Sour Ale fermented in an Oak Foeder & aged in Wine Barrels
- ABV: 5.5%
- Serving Temperature: 50–57° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Lambic Tumbler, or Chardonnay Glass
- Country: United States
Green Bench Brewing’s Alice has seen very limited distribution thus far, with only about 25 cases sold in the U.S. over the past year. We’ve gotten to sample some amazing IPAs and complex sour ales from Green Bench, but Alice stood out as arguably the best release from their barrel-aging program we’ve sampled to date. This beer just turned out so good. There’s firm acidity and citrus expression, with clear notes of lemon curd and tangerine, with a boldly presented, definitely tart, mixed-culture fermentation.
We’re so proud of our featured beers, that we list them going all the way back to 1995
No other Beer Club can claim the same. Check out what we’ve been up for the last 20+ years. We know you’ll be impressed enough to see what’s coming next month.
