- Suggested Glassware: Pint Glass or Mug
- Hops: Nugget, Fuggle

- Country: United States
What is a milk stout? Despite the name, it doesn’t taste like milk, although there’s a similar faint sweetness from the lactose (milk sugar) added during brewing this style of beer. This sugar cannot be metabolized by the yeast, remaining in the beer and providing extra heft to the body and an extra dimension of sweetness to balance the sharpness of the dry, roasted flavors. Duck Rabbit specializes in dark beers, and brewer Paul Philippon’s...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American Black Ale
- ABV: 7.3%
- Serving Temperature: 48-55º F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip or Snifter
- Hops: New Zealand Motueka, varied American aromatic hops
- Malts: Several roast malts
- Country: United States
Black IPA, India Black Ale, Cascadian Dark Ale, American Black Ale – this is a style that goes by many names (Duck-Rabbit is going with American Black Ale, which we also prefer). Hoppy Bunny presents a very dark, opaque, brown-black hue topped by a head of medium-brown foam. In the aroma, we certainly get that interplay between dark malts and brighter hop notes that sets this style apart. The malts come through with a lot less of an acrid...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: English-style Summer Ale
- ABV: 5.0%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 28
- Serving Temperature: 40-45º F
- Suggested Glassware: Pint Glass or Mug
- Hops: Opal, Sterling
- Malts: 2-Row, Carapils
- Country: United States
Pouring a bright golden color with a light yeasty haze and a lasting cap of foam that laces nicely as it recedes, Sum’r looks inviting in the glass. Winner of bronze and silver medals at the GABF as well as a silver at the World Beer Championships, Sum’r offers up a pleasant aroma with prominent herbaceous, grassy, and spicy notes, along with some floral tones, melon, and mild lemony citrus zest. On the palate, look for the malts to come...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: Session IPA
- ABV: 5.0%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 50
- Serving Temperature: 45-50º F
- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass or Pint Glass
- Hops: Centennial, Ella, Citra
- Malts: 2-Row, Munich, C-40
- Country: United States
This updated version of Trader has increased the ABV from its original 4% to 5% now, and while they’ve dropped the “session IPA” branding, we still feel it’s a pretty sessionable IPA, delivering big, hoppy flavor without the 7%-ish ABV that often accompanies traditional IPAs. This bright copper brew builds plenty of rocky white foam as you pour, from which emerge big and brightly fruity hop aromas sporting citrus, floral, and tropical fruit...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American IPA
- ABV: 7.3%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 75
- Serving Temperature: 47-52º F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Snifter, IPA Glass
- Hops: Galaxy, Chinook
- Malts: 2-Row, Munich, C-40
- Country: United States
This bold IPA from Uinta pours a medium amber color that's quite hazy, topped with a large crop of khaki foam. The aroma on this brew intrigued us right away with big notes of lime backed by lemon, passion fruit, touches of melon, earth, and hints of berry. Those lime impressions—a calling card of the Australian Galaxy hops—aren't shy on the palate either, as they grip one's taste buds immediately, bolstered by secondary notes of melon and...
- Bottle Size: 500-ml
- Style: German Pilsner
- ABV: 4.9%
- Serving Temperature: 40-45° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pilsner Glass, Flute
- Country: Germany
It’s worth noting before we begin that it is acceptable to spell the name of this style of beer as “pilsner” or “pilsener.” The style originated in Pilsen, Czech Republic, but of course the Czechs spell Pilsen as “Plzeň,” so perhaps we should consider another spelling: “plzener.” Oh well, enough of that – on to the beer! Wolters Pilsener was awarded a Gold Medal in 2018 from Germany’s extremely stringent DLG Test which, over the course of...
- Bottle Size: 500-ml
- Style: Schwarzbier
- ABV: 5.0%
- Serving Temperature: 45-50° F
- Suggested Glassware: Flute, Pilsner Glass, Mug, Stein
- Country: Germany
Wolters Black is Wolters' interpretation of a “schwarzbier” (literally “blackbeer”). The style tends to trip up those who haven’t experienced it before; the uninitiated often think because it’s dark in color that it must be heavy or chewy with a lot of bitter roastiness. But the reality is that schwarzbiers are very easy drinking lagers that embrace the maltier side of things without sacrificing refreshment. Pouring a super dark brown with...
- Bottle Size: 750-ml
- Style: Hoppy Cedar-Aged Ale w/ Native Yeast & Bacteria
- ABV: 7%
- Serving Temperature: 43–50° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Small Nonic, or Chardonnay Glass
- Hops: Amarillo, Centennial, Simcoe
- Country: United States
Jester King’s El Cedro is brewed with Hill Country well water, malted barley and wheat, and fermented with a mixed culture of brewer’s yeast along with native yeast and bacteria. This complex beer gets hopped with an assortment of piney, tropical hops (including Amarillo, Centennial, and Simcoe) and gets aged on spirals of Spanish cedar. El Cedro is unfiltered, unpasteurized, and 100% naturally conditioned in the bottle. It’s the first batch brewed since 2019...
- Bottle Size: 750-ml
- Style: Barleywine-Style Ale aged in Bourbon Barrels w/ Coconut
- ABV: 13.1%
- Serving Temperature: 52–58° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Teku, Snifter or Pinot glass
- Country: United States
This barleywine-style ale takes The Bruery’s core bourbon-barrel-aged barleywine and adds coconut at about a pound per gallon. We found the robust contribution of the coconut and the barrel aging to be presenting so good right now—this beer is perfectly aged, drinking so smoothly, and does an incredible job of having its coconut additions smooth out the edges of potent core barleywine and barrel character. At 13+%, this one’s ideal for sharing.
