- Malts: Pilsner, Carafoam
- Country: United States
This German-style pilsner from Salt Flats radiates a golden straw color in the glass, topped by a cap of bright white foam. Look for lots of subtle German noble hop complexities in the aroma, which came across for us as lightly herbal, floral, grassy, and earthy, with hints of orange & lemon zest. Those hop notes come through quite brightly in the flavor department, too, with plenty of spice, earth, hay, and a zesty moderate bitterness that...

- Style: Bavarian-style Weissbier / Hefeweizen
- ABV: 5.2%

- Serving Temperature: 42-50º F
- Suggested Glassware: Weizen Glass, Pilsner Glass
- Hops: Perle
- Malts: Wheat, Pils
- Country: United States
KC Bier’s Hefe-Weizen pours a well-hazed golden color with a tall cap of bright foam, and we made sure to take the traditional step of swirling up the yeast at the bottom of the bottle before finishing the pour. On the nose, expect all the classic, yeast-driven Bavarian weissbier aromas including bold banana esters, bubblegum impressions, and a spicy-herbal phenolic character invoking clove, which matched well with a light dose of German Perle...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

- Malts: 2-Row, Munich, Crystal 150, Crystal 40
- Country: United States
This bold Scotch ale pours a gorgeous deep garnet color when held to the light, with good clarity and small head of beige foam. On the nose, bold malty notes abound, delivering impressions of toasted bread and rich caramel, with additional tones of molasses and brown sugar, hints of cocoa powder, and flashes of dried fruits. Some woody, earthy, and lightly spicy hops add additional dimension. Expect this brew to come through as absolutely...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz

- Serving Temperature: 45-50º F
- Suggested Glassware: Flute, Pilsner Glass
- Hops: Perle
- Malts: Munich, Pils, Melanoidin, Aroma
- Country: United States
This Munich-style dunkel presents an attractive ruddy brown hue as it rests in our glass, topped by a cap of light brown foam. In the aroma, beautiful malty notes give us impressions of brown bread, toasted grain, lightly roasted nuts, and fresh hay, overlaid by a hint of spicy, lightly woody hops. Look for toasted crusty bread to come forth front and center on the palate, atop some deep-down caramelization, a touch of brown sugar, and flashes...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American IPA
- ABV: 6.3%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 69

- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass, Tulip, Snifter
- Hops: Zeus, Cascade, Centennial, Comet, Chinook, Galena
- Malts: 2-Row, Munich, Wheat, Crystal 40
- Country: United States
This double IPA from Salt Flats presents a burnished orange color with good clarity and a head of beige foam as it sits in our glass. On the nose, look for big citrus notes conjuring impressions of grapefruit, orange, and tangerine, while resinous, pine-like herbal tones add additional intrigue. Secondary floral, stone-fruit, and even berry-like hints show nicely as well, all atop a noticeable caramelized malty undertone. Naturally, this is a...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American IPA
- ABV: 5.4%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 42
- Serving Temperature: 45-50º F
- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass, Pint Glass
- Hops: Perle, Ariana, Amarillo
- Malts: Pils, Vienna
- Country: United States
KC Bier’s Noble IPA is a brand new product from the brewery, and we’re excited to bring it to our members this month. Pouring a radiant golden-copper hue with plenty of persistent foam, it drops sheets of lace as we drink down the glass. There’s a super inviting aroma here, delivering lots of juiciness. Look for a complex profile that’s got a lot of facets including shades of orangey citrus, soft tropical fruits, jasmine-like floral touches...
- Bottle Size: 500-ml
- Style: Kölsch
- ABV: 4.8%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 25
- Serving Temperature: 40-45° F
- Suggested Glassware: Stange, Pilsner Glass
- Hops: Hallertauer Perle, Hallertauer Magnum
- Country: Germany
Pouring a bright golden straw color with good clarity and a large head of foam that laces nicely as it recedes, Gaffel Kölsch looked quite appealing in our tall, straight-sided, cylindrical “stange” (“pole” or “stick” in German) – the traditional kölsch glass. On the nose, we picked up light fruity and floral impressions, with hints of pear and green apple, wisps of woodsy spice, and even shades of mint with a good swirl of the glass. The malts...
- Bottle Size: 330-ml
- Style: Czech / Bohemian Pilsner
- ABV: 4.9%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 37
- Serving Temperature: 40-45° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pilsner Glass, Willi Becher, Mug
- Hops: Saaz
- Country: Czech Republic
While pilsner is often associated with Germany, as that nation is home to a multitude of excellent interpretations which have inspired countless others around the world, the style originated in the Bohemian town of Plzeň, in what is now the Czech Republic. Bernard’s Bohemain Lager is one of many pilsner variations produced by Bernard, and is known at home as “Světlý Ležák 12” (Light Lager 12), or simply “Dvanáctka” (Twelve) – the 12 being a...
- Bottle Size: 750-ml
- Style: Blackberry Imperial Porter
- ABV: 8.5%
- Serving Temperature: 50–56° F
- Suggested Glassware: Snifter, Small Nonic, or Tulip
- Country: United States
This was originally designed to be a cellarable beer; we’d encourage popping a bottle every six months or a year to ensure increased caramelization isn’t changing the overall balance. For pairings, we’d be inclined to put this alongside chocolate-and-fruit-focused dessert courses to match those core notes of deep chocolate, caramel, and berry notes. Alternately: tiramisu, affogato, or some creamy vanilla-focused options to counterpoint...
- Bottle Size: 750-ml
- Style: Dark Berlin-Style Weisse Beer
- ABV: 7.5%
- Serving Temperature: 42–46° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Nonic, or Pokal Glass
- Country: United States
This should continue to age gracefully for another couple years at least. The combo of tartness and fruit have us looking to chocolate + fruit options especially: chocolate-covered cherries, or a cheese, chocolate, and fruit sampler plate to explore pairings—even indulgent chocolate desserts, with the acidity and citrus fruits cutting through some of that richness.
