Pouring a bright, rich golden color with a robust head of pale foam, this golden ale from Sawtooth offers up a good look, and engaging aromas, as it rests in the glass. Look for some floral and lightly citric hops – evoking some orange and lemon – underlined by a base of pale, lightly honeyed malts reminiscent of graham cracker. Those malty notes jump out right away on the palate, offering notes of fresh bread and mild toast, with that honey...

420 Strain G13 presents a bright golden color, lightly hazy, with a big head of light bone-colored foam which leaves nice lacing as we drink this down. On the nose, we get a resinous herbal and earthy quality joined by plenty of citrus zest tending toward grapefruit. Swirl it a bit, and we pick up some floral and light tropical notes, and a shot of pine. The story continues in the flavor as the dankly herbal and citric qualities take center...

False Summit pours a clear deep amber with bright flecks of copper and a thick pale tan foam cap. Rich aromas of caramel maltiness arise with light brown sugar accents that are warm and inviting, as do aromas of toasty nuts and grains. There’s a hint of toffee and candied orange peel with lightly piney hop aromas adding welcome fruity and floral notes. On the palate this medium bodied amber ale exhibits the caramel and toffee notes that abounded...

SweetWater describes H.A.Z.Y. IPA as a “juice bomb” and, boy, they ain’t lying. The juicy aromas explode as soon as you pop it open. Pouring a golden straw color that’s very hazy, naturally, and capped by a rocky head of pale foam, this brew offers tons of fruits on the nose, running the gamut from grapefruit and lime-like citrus, mango tropical notes, stone fruits tending towards apricot, and melon character conjuring cantaloupe. It’s quite...

Pouring a clear deep gold color with a thick bright white head, this “San Diego style” IPA delivers aromas of pine, mandarin orange, and tangerine, as the bright, floral, and expressive hops open up in the glass. Following this are citrus leaf and tropical notes that add a further depth which are supported by toasty barley, Vienna, and caramel malt. Rich and inviting, the first sip calls up mandarin orange peel, citrus blossom and leaves...

Tandem pours a clear bright gold color which is capped by a thick white head. Deep dank hop aromas abound with lots of fresh pine needle and orange peel, grapefruit, pineapple, and hints of field herbs. There’s an underlying melon and stone fruit vibe as well, plus more tropical expressions the farther we dive in. Nicely toasty Vienna malt and flaked wheat give a lightly grainy warmth as a balance to the fruity and floral hops. As we take a...

Inspired by their H.A.Z.Y. IPA, SweetWater decided to craft an imperialized version that was even juicier and more intense than the original. Their H.A.Z.Y. Double IPA looks very much like the original, pouring a well-hazed golden orange hue with a cap of off-white foam. On the nose: this is one extremely juicy brew, as we expect for a hazy New England-style IPA that’s been put on steroids. Look for a bold fruit cocktail character evoking...

This session IPA from Cerveceria de Colima is named after a famous rock that forms the centerpiece of a park in the city of Colima. Meaning “smooth stone”, the piedra lisa is a large volcanic rock that has been polished by generations of youngsters (and plenty of adults, too) using it as a slide. Piedra Lisa presents a bright coppery golden color topped by a large head of persistent fluffy foam. Look for deeply fruity impressions on the nose...

A century ago, during a time in which pilsner-style lagers were sweeping Europe and the world, the Belgian Brewers Guild challenged its members to create a traditionally-made but lower-gravity Belgian ale to compete. Palm’s answer to the guild and the trend towards easy-drinking beers was their Spéciale Belge (often branded today simply as Palm, as it’s the brewery’s flagship beer), a sessionable ale with a very pilsner-like 5.2% ABV and 18...
