- Serving Temperature: 40-45º F
- Suggested Glassware: Stange, Flute, Pilsner Glass
- Hops: Magnum, Tettnang
- Malts: Pilsner, Munich, White Wheat
- Country: United States
This classic style originating in Cologne (Köln), in western Germany, is a bit of a hybrid as it’s made with top-fermenting ale yeast, but then cold conditioned like lager. Zipline’s interpretation certainly looks the part, offering a bright and robust head of foam atop a radiant pale golden brew. Very on-point central European noble hop aromas jump out straight away, offering up notes of spice, grass, earth, and fruitiness hinting at citrus...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: Oatmeal Coffee Stout
- ABV: 6.4%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 31
- Serving Temperature: 50-55º F
- Suggested Glassware: Pint Glass, Mug, Tulip
- Hops: Warrior, Centennial
- Malts: Pale Malt, Flaked Oats, Chocolate Malt, White Wheat, Roasted Wheat, Roasted Barley
- Country: United States
Bent River brews this oatmeal stout with coffee, dramatically augmenting the coffee-like overtones often present in beers like stouts and porters which are built with a large amount of roasted grains. Sometimes brewers can miss the mark and go a little too crazy with the coffee, but Bent River really hit the mark here well. Uncommon Stout pours a very dark brown with a very sizeable head that retains well. Unsurprisingly, big coffee notes...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American Lager
- ABV: 4.8%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 15
- Serving Temperature: 40-45º F
- Suggested Glassware: Pilsner Glass, Flute
- Hops: Magnum, Centennial
- Malts: Pilsner, Honey, Vienna, Crystal
- Country: United States
This American Lager was brewed in collaboration with the Nebraska Alumni Association (two of Zipline’s founders are University of Nebraska alumni) for the first time back in 2021, and its success led it to become a year-round offering. Named after the traditional fight song Dear Old Nebraska U, this brew presents a bright golden hue with good clarity, topped by a spritely head of white foam. On the nose, look for some light floral, citric, and...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American Pale Wheat Ale
- ABV: 5.0%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 9
- Serving Temperature: 40-45º F
- Suggested Glassware: Flute, Pilsner Glass, Weizen Glass
- Hops: Warrior, Simcoe
- Malts: Pale Malt, White Wheat, Flaked Oats
- Country: United States
Bent River’s American Wheat Ale presents a bright golden color, lightly hazed, with a vigorous head of pale foam. In the aroma, look for pleasant touches of herbal hops evoking earth and mild pine, backed up by light shades of lemon rind and peach-like stone fruit. On the palate, we get a very well realized wheaty core delivering a touch of sweetness alongside its characteristic tanginess, and the whole thing comes across quite round and smooth...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American Pale Ale
- ABV: 5.4%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 40
- Serving Temperature: 45-50º F
- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass, Tulip, Pint Glass
- Hops: Centennial, Simcoe
- Malts: 2-Row, Pale, Pilsner, Crystal
- Country: United States
This pale ale presents an attractive orangish-amber hue in the glass, topped by a large cap of persistent foam that drops plenty of lace as it slowly recedes. The nose on this is quite resinous, indeed; look for a big central note of candied orange peel that’s wrapped up in plenty of herbal pine resin. That citric-piney dynamic carries on to the palate, as well, where we get that bold hop character riding atop a satisfying malty core offering...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American IPA
- ABV: 6.2%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 68
- Serving Temperature: 45-50º F
- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass, Tulip, Pint Glass
- Hops: Citra, Warrior
- Malts: Pale, Honey, Caramel, Flaked Oats
- Country: United States
This IPA from Bent River presents quite nicely in the glass, pouring a rich medium amber with copper highlights and good head retention. On the nose, look for a bit of caramel malt as an undercurrent, topped by inviting citric, floral, and fruity hop aromas, with a touch of spice. Those hops come through with plenty of bitterness in the flavor department, balanced nicely by a backbone of mildly toasty caramel malt. Hops offer citrus and maybe...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American IPA
- ABV: 6.8%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 66
- Serving Temperature: 45-50º F
- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass, Tulip, Pint Glass
- Hops: Citra, Cascade, Centennial, CTZ, Warrior
- Malts: Pale, Caramel, Caramunich, Victory, White Wheat
- Country: United States
Presenting a clear coppery-amber color and capped with a well-retained head of off-white foam, Undercurrent looks inviting in the glass as it offers up its hoppy aromas. Bent River employs an array of five different hop varieties in this brew, and the results are compelling, complex, and bold. Look for plenty of prominent citrus character along with resinous herbal notes, floral overtones, and touches of mild spice. Flavorwise, the story is...
- Bottle Size: 500-ml
- Style: German Pilsner
- ABV: 4.9%
- Serving Temperature: 48-55° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pilsner Glass, Flute
- Country: Germany
It’s worth noting before we begin that it is acceptable to spell the name of this style of beer as “pilsner” or “pilsener.” The style originated in Pilsen, Czech Republic, but of course the Czechs spell Pilsen as “Plzeň,” so perhaps we should consider another spelling: “plzener.” Oh well, enough of that – on to the beer! Wolters Pilsener was awarded a Gold Medal in 2018 from Germany’s extremely stringent DLG Test which, over the course of three...
- Bottle Size: 440-ml
- Style: Old Ale
- ABV: 5.6%
- Serving Temperature: 48-55° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Snifter
- Country: England
Old Peculier is Theakston’s most famous beer and has been brewed under this name since the late 19th century. It’s crafted in the style of an “old ale”, also sometimes known as a “stock ale”, which was a beer traditionally matured for an extended period, often developing some oxidized notes and a vinous, mildly acidic edge. These ales were then sometimes blended with fresh ale to add dimension and complexity to the younger brew. Old Peculier...
- Bottle Size: 750-ml
- Style: Vintage Oude Kriek
- ABV: 6%
- Serving Temperature: 46–54° F
- Suggested Glassware: Lambic Tumbler, Flute, or Tulip Glass
- Country: Belgium
This extraordinary brew bears a remarkable longevity, with a best-by date extending an impressive 20 years beyond its release. Our focus on the 2014 vintage stems from its entrance into the pinnacle of flavor complexity—a sentiment echoed by the scarcity of its U.S. distribution, with only a handful of the final cases available exclusively through the Rare Beer Club, and no inventory available via further imports.
- Bottle Size: 750-ml
- Style: Belgian Tripel Ale
- ABV: 7.5%
- Serving Temperature: 48–52° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Goblet, or Chalice
- Country: Belgium
With all due respect to the “Best before date” on the bottle, Corsendonk Agnus can be confidently aged 5-8 years in a dark place without high temperature fluctuations. Of course, you can enjoy it now with grilled fish or poultry, or try it with Belgian moules et frites as recent traditions would suggest.
